The Department of Physics and Astronomy welcomes new faculty members Dr. Philip Rodrigues and Dr. Likun Zhang. They will both join the department in fall 2016.
Dr. Rodrigues is a particle physicist specializing in neutrino physics. Phil did his graduate training at Oxford University and post doctoral work at University of Rochester. He is presently engaged with work on the MINERVA experiment at Fermilab, which shared the 2016 Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics.
Dr. Zhang’s research lies in the fields of fluid mechanics and acoustics. He did his graduate training at the Washington State University and post doctoral work at the University of Texas at Austin. He combines experimental, computational, and theoretical approaches to conducting inter-disciplinary research at the interface of fluid dynamics and physical acoustics with applications in the areas of biomedicine, energy, environment, and oceans.
Students who are interested in these new research areas in our department should contact the Department of Physics and Astronomy.
