Research Interests

Research activities include development of instrumentation for research in acoustics. Measurements of sound propagation outdoors have included the effects of sound attenuation by vegetation, soil porosity, turbulence, and the acoustic generation of seismic waves. Instrumentation projects in acoustics include the development of subsonic speakers for outdoor sound propagation measurements and the construction of ultrasonic transducers for measurement of acoustic shock waves and for use in various robotics applications. Additional projects include implementing the use of computers and hypermedia in physics education.
